Cars in Germany's Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were contacted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police state initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.

A senior representative stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
